50 Moments That Made Dad’s Army: #10 Fairy Story

If there’s one thing guaranteed to irritate Captain Mainwaring, it’s evidence of Wilson’s privileged upbringing.

In Time on My Hands, from series 5, the platoon get stuck at the top of a clock tower with no one but a German airman for company. The last thing Mainwaring needs to hear is the fairy story Wilson’s old nanny used to tell him. But he gets it anyway.

Of course in true Dad’s Army fashion when Walker is the only member of the platoon who can come-up with a sensible solution to their problem of getting down, Mainwaring is the first to claim it as his own.
