Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard at their incompetent best in three brilliantly funny shows from this all-time classic series. Starring Captain Mainwaring and his intrepid platoon:
'The Day the Balloon Went Up' - The sight of the verger swinging like a pendulum outside the church tower is only the beginning of the platoon's problems. A stray barrage balloon has to be brought down to earth - a task which inevitably falls to Captain Mainwaring's fearless team.
'Sons of the Sea' - "I've had an idea" says Captain Mainwaring, and the look of despair on Wilson's face says it all. "River patrols! Half a dozen men armed to the teeth - with a boat."
'Don't Forget the Driver' - A major strategic exercise pits Captain Mainwaring's men against the rival platoon from Eastgate. Lance Corporal Jones disguised as a log, Private Frazer in a diving suit; sheep wearing tin hats.
