50 Moments That Made Dad’s Army: #9 Snow Camouflage

Where would Dad’s Army be without a parade and what would a parade be without Mainwaring and his daft ideas? In the 1976 Christmas special The Love of Three Oranges those two things are brought together.

This provides an opportunity for some lovely moments including Fraser dressed in his mother’s wedding dress and Godfrey in a Pierrot costume, complete with pom-poms.

It’s really got nothing to do with the story that follows, but it’s a great moment in its own right.

50 Moments that made Dad’s Army is a series of blog posts each focusing on one moment that helped define the popular comedy series. There will be one post for each of the 50 days leading-up to the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of the first episode of the series on 31st July 1968. 50 Moments that Made Dad’s Army is brought to you by walmington-on-line.co.uk and copyright of all video clips belongs to the BBC.
