50 Moments That Made Dad’s Army: #28 All bloody bone

It’s time to hear from some of the less major characters of Dad’s Army – step forward Sidney Blewitt, brother of the deceased Horace, sometime gardener to the vicar and a man who can give a very good lecture on almost any subject.

Mr Blewitt crops up in numerous episodes and situations, starting with the first episode of the third series. This moment comes from the same series, but a little later in the fantastic episode No Spring For Frazer in which the loss of a butterfly spring from the platoon Brenn Gun lead the platoon through a range of bizarre events culminating in a bit of light grave robbery.

But before we get to that, Jones and Frazer attempt to retrieve the missing spring from Horace Blewitt’s coffin while it is still open (on the dining room table) and Sidney Blewitt and Jones have a frank discussion about the quality of Jonesey’s best end of neck.
